Ryanair hopes to introduce its first Boeing 737 MAX this year and plans to fly forty 737 MAX aircraft by the summer of 2021.
In January this year, Ryanair CEO Michael O’Leary said he did not expect the first 737 MAX before October this year. By now, Boeing has already hinted at a possible return of the newest 737s in the third quarter of 2020. Despite the corona crisis and the many delays in the aircraft’s recertification, Ryanair hopes, after waiting for more than a year, to receive its first 737 MAX towards the end of the year. “We remain committed to these game-changer aircraft,” said the company.
The low-cost airline is slowly but surely working towards its former capacity. In July, Ryanair hopes to operate 40 percent of its regular flight schedule again. The airline is expecting to reach 60 percent in August and 70 percent in September, should the coronavirus outbreak continue to be controlled.
