Air New Zealand has announced it will ground its entire fleet of Boeing 777s until at least September 2021.

The airline had already announced in May that it would keep the majority of its seven Boeing 777-300s on the ground until at least the end of 2020. Four of these 777-300’s are parked in Victorville, California. The other three will remain in Auckland so that they can be used again when necessary.

In addition to all -300s, the 777-200s are now also grounded. These will be sent to long term storage facilities in Roswell, New Mexico and Victorville, California later this month. Air New Zealand has indicated that it has chosen these locations because of the weather conditions there, which allow it to take the aircraft back into service from North America within six to eight weeks.
