In 2025, Delta Air Lines will celebrate its 100th anniversary, marking the occasion with a special livery. The airline’s newest A350 features a design dominated by blue and silver.

The airline unveiled the aircraft to the public on Sunday. The Airbus A350-900, registration N527DN, closely resembles its sister aircraft, but the blue and silver colors make it distinctly unique. In addition to the Delta branding in its usual spot, the aircraft carries a special decal displaying “100 years”, with the last ‘0’ featuring a silver Delta logo.

The tail features a combination of silver, midnight blue, and royal blue bands, which flow upward along the curve of the tail. However, the design remains similar to Delta’s existing tails, with the only difference being the colors. Additionally, the engines have been painted in the same metallic royal blue, a few shades darker than those on Delta’s other A350s.

The Airbus A350 is not the only aircraft receiving this special livery. Delta has also chosen to paint an Airbus A321neo, registration N589DT, in the same anniversary colors. The aircraft has already been spotted at the Airbus factory in Hamburg with the new design. Both aircraft are expected to enter Delta’s fleet this spring.

In 1925, Collett Woolman founded “Huff Daland Dusters” in Macon, Georgia. The company specialized in crop dusting using agricultural aircraft. Five years later, Woolman moved to Monroe, Louisiana, where he established Delta Air Lines, named after the Mississippi Delta that flows through the southern U.S. state. This marked the beginning of the airline’s growth, and in 1931, the airline started operating passenger flights.

After World War II, the company experienced rapid growth. In 2008, the airline acquired Northwest Airlines, making it one of the largest airlines in the world. In 2000, Delta founded the SkyTeam alliance alongside airlines such as KLM. The two carriers continue to work closely together and remain each other’s key partners.
