A Lufthansa CRJ-900 made a right-hand return to Frankfurt, Germany shortly after departure on both Monday and Tuesday.

On Monday, the aircraft, registration D-ACNX, was preparing for flight LH1390 from the German city toward Poznań, a city in western Poland. The aircraft took off at 21:40, twenty minutes behind schedule, heading south from runway 18. The CRJ-900 climbed to a maximum altitude of about 21,000 feet (approximately 6,500 meters). According to AV Herald, the pilots reported issues with the pressurization system near one of the doors. There was also “a lot of noise in the cockpit.”

Replacement aircraft

The aircraft soon began its descent back toward the departure airport. After just under half an hour, it landed safely on runway 25L. Lufthansa arranged a replacement CRJ-900, registration D-ACNJ, which departed from Frankfurt to Poznań the following morning at 8:35. About an hour later, the aircraft arrived in the Polish city.

Another return

That same Tuesday morning, D-ACNX returned to the skies. The CRJ-900 was scheduled to operate flight LH1220 from Frankfurt to Salzburg, Austria. The aircraft departed at 6:50 from the same runway as the day before and climbed to an altitude of 25,000 feet. Once again, according to AV Herald, the pilots noticed issues with the cabin pressure. They decided to abort the climb and return to the departure airport. Data from Flightradar24 shows that they even declared an emergency. After 30 minutes, the CRJ-900 landed safely on runway 25C. The aircraft remained grounded for a day, after which it completed a 45-minute test flight from Frankfurt to Frankfurt on Wednesday. Later that day, it was put back into service for a flight to Poznań, where it arrived on schedule.
