For the 13th time, establishing a breaking record, Singapore’s Changi Airport has been crowned the best airport in the world by Skytrax, an organization dedicated to presenting multiple awards to airports based on a survey that is answered by the travelers themselves.

Methodology

Skytrax operates with a survey-based methodology that is curated by the certain standards of accessibility and validity, such as it being presented in three language option (Spanish, English, and Chinese). The survey was self-funded, mitigating the risk of airport donations that could generate bias. There was a large sample size, covering over 575 airports worldwide and there were no need for the user to make a subscription, registration or any type of cost. Moreover, an imporant detail is that there was a survey screening that identified each IP, that filtered duplicate or ineligible entries.

Some of the relevant categories measured in the survey included: quality airport website and app, efficiency of transportation options, terminal comfort, ambiance and design, cleanliness, security, queuing times, transit through the airport, airport staff, washroom facilities, entertainment facilities, hotel facilities, among others.
